“Ride on Ken” Ken Quon was 48 years young, and while guiding a group of mountain bikers in Lost Lake Park on the evening of September 5th 2005, he took his last pedal stroke. A marker at the end of Upper Panorama trail commemorates the spot of his passing as a result of an undetected congenital heart condition. An ardent mountain biker, Ken was also an enthusiastic supporter of a myriad of athletic and community events in Whistler. He was willing and able to contribute to many local causes through his position as the manager of Whistler’s IGA Marketplace and his personal dedication to volunteerism. Ken tried, while he was with us, to “do good” for the community he “loved to live in”. Now the Whistler Offroad Cycling Association (WORCA), would like to keep Ken’s legacy of “giving back” alive. Ken’s favorite expression while guiding mountain bikers was “Ride On”. This little phrase was his last. |
